Housing programs available to assist Douglas County residents

Castle Rock residents can take advantage of several programs offered through the Douglas County Housing Partnership, including down payment assistance and a Shared Equity Program.

The Partnership will provide up to $20,000 in down payment assistance to Douglas County individuals or families who meet the basic requirements of the first-time homebuyer program.

The qualifications include a maximum annual household income of $42,550 for one person, $48,650 for two people, $54,700 for three people, $60,800 for four people, $66,650 for five people and $70,550 for six people.

The Partnership also will provide an investment of up to 20 percent of the purchase price of a home ($50,000 maximum) to first-time homebuyers who work in Douglas County through its Shared Equity Program.

In attempt to prevent mortgage defaults, assist mortgage lenders and borrowers in working out defaults and resolve foreclosure actions initiated or threatened by lenders, the Partnership has established a foreclosure mediation program.

The multijurisdictional authority also offers free homebuyers’ education classes and counseling for reverse mortgages, which are for homeowners age 62 and up.

Information on down payment assistance and the Shared Equity Program can be obtained by calling 303-784-7857.

Those wishing to inquire about the foreclosure mediation program can call 303-784-7856.

The Partnership’s general phone number is 303-784-7824, and its Web site is www.douglascountyhousingpartnership.org. Its offices are in Lone Tree.
